October is full of school safety drills. We've worked on the fire, tornado, and earthquake. Today was bus evacuation drills!

Yesterday, it was our teachers’ turn to be the learners! Our professional development day kicked off with a fun team challenge that encouraged collaboration, planning, and adjustments along the way—skills our teachers put into practice in their classrooms every day. Then, teams rolled up their sleeves to work on our district’s Portrait of a Graduate. Together, we’re identifying the skills we want our students to have when they graduate, what those skills look like at each stage of their educational journey, and how we can help students build them at every grade level. It was a day of teamwork, thoughtful conversations, and a shared commitment to helping our students succeed—in school and beyond!

🗳️ Our third graders participated in a mock election! From registering to vote to casting their ballots and receiving their “I Voted” stickers, students learned about democracy and the importance of every vote! 🇺🇸

Students who missed the original picture day or are new and have not been photographed must have their picture taken.

Requesting a retake? Bring the original picture package with a detailed explanation of your concern written on the front. Retakes cannot be taken without it.

Don't forget! Grundy R-V School District will operate an AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) Day tomorrow, October 20th, to complete required electrical upgrades at the high school.

Votech students will still attend class in Chillicothe.

PK-8th grade received a packet or folders that contained their AMI work.

9th-12th grade will receive (or have already received) their AMI work on Google Classroom.

From the Emancipation Proclamation to modern-day social justice, our freshman history students took a deep dive into the fight for equality. For this project, students stepped into the shoes of investigative journalists. They researched critical turning points in history—including Slavery, the Gilded Age Robber Barons, the Women’s Rights movement and the Chinese Exclusion Act along with modern day issue's like equality and social justice. To bring their findings to life, they built an interactive crime board mapping out the systemic connections, historical figures, and lasting impacts of their chosen causes. By mapping the past, they are raising awareness for the future. Check out their incredible journalism and visual maps below.

From the printing press to changing empires, our sophomore history class just officially wrapped up their unit on the Reformation with a theme park presentation of the religious powerhouses of that time. It was amazing to watch students debate over the impact of these historic events and how they affect our modern world.

Our elementary students will be dressed in their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treating through the high school building! We would love to have parents and community members join us to help pass out candy and enjoy the excitement with our Little Panthers!

We would gladly welcome candy donations! Donated candy will be shared with students and adults helping hand out treats to our elementary trick-or-treaters.

🏀 The GIRLS' Junior High Basketball practice will end at 5:00pm tonight! 🏀

Teaching Democracy 🗳️ What an easy, delicious way to teach students that their voices matter? We turned snack time into a polling station! We used a fun game of "Would You Rather" and a popcorn tasting station to simulate a real election. Win or lose, everyone gets to share their voice and the snack. It’s a simple way to teach kids about free speech, listening to others, and accepting the majority vote!
