2026 Science Fair
Students recently participated in a Science Fair competition and displayed the results of their experiments at the home basketball game on Tuesday, February 3rd. The Science Fair winners were Addison Millar and Adley Boren for their water filtration experiment titled "Making it Clear."



We are partnering with the American Heart Association for Wellness Week! Wellness Week is a weeklong, school-wide, family engagement opportunity! That promotes physical health, and mental well-being through educational resources and heart healthy activities each day. Focusing mainly on Finn’s Mission – a road map for being healthy, learning CPR and helping others!
This year, we have an important goal to have 100% of our families learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR! It only takes a few minutes to learn, and it can make all the difference in an emergency.

🏀 2026 HDC Basketball Tournament 🏀
The 2026 HDC Basketball Tournament, hosted by North Mercer R-III, will take place Monday, February 9 through Saturday, February 14, 2026.
📅 Monday, February 9
Girls only – Game time: 8:30 PM
🚌 Bus leaves Galt at 6:30 PM

Boys only – Game time: 8:30 PM

Please see brackets attached to show game times for the remainder of the week. To help the tournament run smoothly and stay on schedule, please review the following important information from Mercer before attending:
📍Please arrive early, as games may run ahead of schedule.
🎟️ Admission Prices: Adults: $5, Students: $3, Seniors (65+): $3
No passes will be accepted unless the individual is on the approved pass list.
🏀 Gym & Game Procedures: Only players are allowed on the gym floor. Spectators should walk outside the floor boundaries when entering or exiting.
🍿 Concessions & Hospitality: Concessions will be available in the lobby area outside the gym.
Only bottled drinks, popcorn, and candy are permitted inside the gym.
📣 Spectator Expectations
Drums, musical instruments, and mechanical noisemakers are not permitted.
Sportsmanship is an essential part of athletic competition and is expected from all participants and spectators.
All other regulations will follow MSHSAA constitutions, by-laws, and rulings.

Meadville Tournament Update
Due to road conditions, the Meadville Tournament has been postponed by one day. Grundy-Newtown will now play on Wednesday, January 28th at the same scheduled times:
Girls: 7:00 PM
Boys: 8:15 PM
The bus is scheduled to depart at 5:15 PM, but may be moved up to 5:00 PM if road conditions require an earlier departure. That information will be communicated early tomorrow morning.
Players should not plan to stay after school, and may return to the school at 4:30 PM. Food will be provided before departure.
FANS: Please note that Highway 139 is CLOSED between Humphreys and Meadville at the Parsons Creek Bridge. Fans planning to attend should allow at least 10 additional minutes for travel due to the detour, depending on the route taken.

Grundy R-V School District proudly recognizes its spelling bee winners in grades 5–8. Students demonstrated strong vocabulary skills, focus, and confidence while competing in the district spelling bee.
Winners by grade include:
5th Grade: Carlee Wilson, Hannah Shiflett, Madden Biggs (alternate)
6th Grade: Jamison Christy, Tucker Lentz, Montana DeSpain (alternate)
7th Grade: Addison Millar, NovaLeigh Anderson, Adley Boren (alternate)
8th Grade: Kolbi Barlow, Shane Holtman, Maggi Merriman (alternate)
Grundy R-V students will participate in the County Spelling Bee on February 5, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the Trenton R-IX Performing Arts Center. Grundy R-V congratulates all participants and thanks staff for supporting academic excellence.


Due to extremely cold temperatures and concerns for student safety, school will be closed on Friday, January 23, 2026. This closure will serve as AMI Day #2.
AMI packets will be sent home with elementary and grades 6–8 students. High school students should refer to Google Classroom for AMI instructions.
